Farideh Abbasi received her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing with high distinction from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis in May 2001, where she earned Profiles in Courage Award and Ambassador in Nursing Award due to her academic excellence in International learning. She completed and presented research in Factors Associated with Abstinence following participation in an Inner-city Smoking Cessation program, and was recognized as a scholar in a summer research opportunity program in October 1999. Farideh joined the Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing in April 2001.
Farideh received her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from George Mason University in May 2006. She is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and is certified by American Nurse Credentialing Certification (ANCC).
As a registered nurse and nurse practitioner, Farideh has been able to blend medical and nursing therapeutics and maintain a holistic perspective to manage and treat chronic health problems including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and hypertension. Farideh works with patients to identify and individualize appropriate health promotion strategies with a special interest in the promotion of exercise, balanced nutrition, weight loss, stress management, injury prevention and elimination of smoking.
Farideh moved from Indianapolis to Northern Virginia and joined Virginia Family Medicine in February 2008.
