About Dr. Kavian Milani

Kavian Milani, MD, is a board-certified family medicine specialist at Virginia Family Medicine’s two offices in Vienna, Virginia, and their office in Fairfax, Virginia. He has won numerous awards for his outstanding excellence in care, including the Top Doctor award by Northern Virginia Magazine for five years and counting, the Top Doctor award by Washingtonian Magazine, and the Excellence in Teaching Award from George Washington University. 

Dr. Milani enjoys learning, teaching, and practicing medicine equally. His interest in medicine began while earning his Bachelor of Science in biology at George Mason University, from which he graduated in 1990. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1995 before completing family medicine residency training through the University of Virginia, too. 

Since finishing his education, Dr. Milani has been an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and an assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. From 1990 to 1995, he was also a teaching assistant in Persian in the department of Middle Eastern languages and cultures. 

Dr. Milani has a strong interest in human rights and has made access to top-quality care a priority by founding the Center for Health and Human Rights, a non-profit in Fairfax, Virginia, focused on serving the Iranian immigrant and other vulnerable populations. He also serves as director of the facility.

Dr. Milani is well-recognized in his field. He’s a Diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians and has published several of his own research publications. He is also designated as a Civil Surgeon by the Department of Homeland Security.
